Madhu Gupta: Obituary

Dear Madhu wife of Pradeep Gupta died to day in DehraDun.She came this family with a great luck and fortune. She was the only daughter of rich parents of Saharanpur Chowk, DehraDun.They had lot of property around that place.Madhu by nature was wonderful lady- very caring, very loving and very good organizer of the family affairs and maintaining good relationships with all. We always had wonderful time with her and she always treated us much more than we expected out of our relationship with her and the family. We will be missing her so badly.She will certainly have better assignment in her next life.She will ever remain in our memory for her love, care and affection for us.
Among the ladies, she was our last link in the family after the demise of Bhabhi ji.We do not know the next. We wish to be still closely associated with them.
My father,s second cousin, Smt. Ram Katori ( buwa ji ) , sister of Shri Babu Ram and Sita Ram was married to Shri Babu Ram Gupta of Chandpur where they hardly lived. My contact with this family was in 1950s when they were living in a small house in Sevak Ashram Road,and later closely in 1953 when I got my admission in DAV College, DehraDun and lived for a short period in a private hostel run by the family at Cement Road.The family has been struggling a lot for a long time, moved from Chandpur to Bijnor ( where, bhai Ram Gopal ji almost of the age of my mother, came in close contact with my mother when my father was doing his internship in District Hospital, Bijnor ; my mother used to tell that she had very cordial relationship with the family); though buwa ji, our main relation was very different kind of person, not so caring or loving but Phoopha ji , Bhai saheb and bhabhi ji were unusually most caring and loving- inviting;They ran different kind of businesses- like typing school, bicycle repairing and renting, milk vending, cloth merchant, hotelling etc. but their main source of living was Bhai Saheb,s hard earned income for typing in the court. He was known as the best typist in the court.They were very much frustrated and disappointed from all their efforts, were discomfort able.
It was another story of DESTINY- bhabhiji,s sister was married in a very rich family while she was living in this small place as her tenant.Som as Bhabhi used to call her brother was also placed in a good place as scientist in NPL.
Phoopha ji and bhai saheb will always be pleased to welcome us in their house any time we visited them.We have been enjoying great relationship with the family. There are so many stories to write about them here.
